Solar light for a night delivery room in Kyalulangira

A solar panel, battery and two bright lamps, so midwives stop delivering babies by phone torchlight.

This season

The need

When the power goes off at night, the midwife on duty holds her phone in her teeth. Our members in Kyalulangira have done this more times than they can count.

A small solar system, one panel, one battery and two bright LED lamps over the delivery bed, means every night birth happens in proper light. It also charges the midwife's phone, which is often the only way to call for an ambulance.

The system will be installed by a local technician and maintained with the facility's management committee.

What your money buys

One solar system costs UGX 1,400,000. Here is where the money goes.
