Terms of use
Last updated 23 October 2026.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of this website, including every page, form and service made available through it (the "Website"). The Website is operated by MANCO (Midwives And Nurses Charity Organisation) ("MANCO", "we", "us" or "our"), a non-governmental organisation limited by guarantee and based in Rakai District, Uganda.
By accessing or using the Website you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Notice and our Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Website.
2. Purpose of the Website
The Website provides information about MANCO and its charitable work, and enables visitors to contact us, apply for membership, offer to volunteer, subscribe to our field notes and report gifts made to MANCO. Nothing on the Website constitutes an offer of employment, a contract for services or a solicitation in any jurisdiction where such solicitation would be unlawful.
3. Health information
Information on the Website is provided for general information only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not create a health worker and patient relationship between you and MANCO or any of its members. Always seek the advice of a qualified health worker about any medical condition. In an emergency, go immediately to the nearest health facility.
4. Use of the Website
You may use the Website only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- use the Website in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation, including the Computer Misuse Act, 2011;
- submit information that is false, misleading, defamatory, obscene or that infringes the rights of any other person;
- report a gift or transaction that you did not make, or impersonate any person;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the server on which it is hosted or any database connected to it, or interfere with its operation by any means, including by introducing malicious code or by automated requests intended to burden the service; or
- reproduce, frame or copy any part of the Website for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
We may suspend or restrict access to the Website, or to any form, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
5. Gifts
5.1 Nature of gifts. All gifts are voluntary donations made to support MANCO's charitable objectives. A gift does not entitle the donor to any goods, services, rights or benefit in return.
5.2 How gifts are paid. Gifts are paid by the donor directly to MANCO's merchant accounts with the Mobile Money network concerned, or by such other method as we publish. The Website does not process payments. Each payment is subject to the terms and charges of the network operator, for which MANCO is not responsible.
5.3 Confirmation. A gift is recorded against a cause only after we have matched the reported transaction identification number, amount and telephone number with our merchant statement. Totals shown on the Website are updated once a gift is confirmed. We may decline to record any report that cannot be verified.
5.4 Use of restricted gifts. A gift made to a particular cause will be applied to that cause. If a cause receives more than it needs, the surplus will be applied to the most urgent open cause within the same programme, and we will state this on the cause page. If a cause cannot proceed, the gift will be applied to the nearest similar charitable need and we will explain why.
5.5 Errors and refunds. If you believe a gift was made in error, contact us at info@mancoug.org within fourteen days of the payment, quoting the transaction identification number. We will consider every request in good faith. Refunds, where agreed, are made to the telephone number from which the payment was made, less any charge imposed by the network operator.
5.6 Refusal of gifts. We reserve the right to refuse or return any gift where acceptance would conflict with our objectives or values, or where we have reason to believe the funds derive from unlawful activity.
5.7 Tax. MANCO makes no representation as to the tax treatment of any gift. Donors should seek their own advice.
6. Membership and volunteering
Submitting a membership application or a volunteer form does not of itself confer membership or create any contract or relationship of employment. Admission to membership is governed by MANCO's Constitution and is subject to the decision of the appropriate body under it. Volunteers act on a voluntary basis and are not employees or agents of MANCO.
7. Information you submit
You confirm that any information you submit through the Website is accurate and that you are entitled to submit it. Where you submit information about another person, you confirm that you have that person's permission to do so. You grant MANCO a non-exclusive, royalty free licence to use the information you submit for the purpose for which you submitted it, in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
8. Intellectual property
The Website and its content, including text, photographs, graphics, the MANCO name and logo, and the selection and arrangement of that content, are owned by or licensed to MANCO and are protected by the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act, 2006, the Trademarks Act, 2010 and other applicable laws.
You may view, download and print pages for your personal, non-commercial use, and you may quote short passages and factual information with an acknowledgement of MANCO as the source and a link to the page quoted. You must not use photographs of people, or the MANCO name or logo, in any way that suggests a partnership, endorsement or affiliation, without our prior written consent.
9. Third party websites and services
The Website may contain links to, or embed content from, websites and services operated by others, including mapping and payment services. Those links are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, availability or practices of any third party, and the inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
10. Availability and changes to the Website
We aim to keep the Website available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, secure or free from errors, or that any information on it is complete or current. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Website at any time without notice.
11. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without any representation, warranty or condition of any kind, whether express or implied.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MANCO, its directors, members, staff and volunteers shall not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect or consequential, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Website or reliance on any content on it, including loss of data, revenue or opportunity.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of Uganda.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify MANCO against any claim, loss, liability or expense, including reasonable legal costs, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Website.
14. Electronic communications
By using the Website and contacting us electronically, you agree that communications between you and MANCO may take electronic form, and that such communications satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing, in accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act, 2011.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. The parties shall first attempt to resolve any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms amicably, by written notice and good faith discussion. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty days, either party may refer it to mediation, and failing settlement, to the courts of Uganda, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
16. General
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. A failure or delay by MANCO in exercising any right shall not operate as a waiver of that right. These Terms, together with our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MANCO concerning the use of the Website.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The date of the latest version appears at the top of the page. Your continued use of the Website after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
