Facts about MANCOVillage outreach
Once a month our nurses and midwives turn a school compound into a clinic for a day.

An outreach day starts early. A car loaded with medicines, registers, gloves, a blood pressure machine and two folding tables leaves Rakai Town before seven. By nine, a primary school compound or a church yard has become a clinic: registration under one tree, consultations at wooden desks on the grass, a pharmacy run from the car boot.
Between six and twelve MANCO nurses and midwives volunteer their Saturday. The local health centre and the village health team help us plan the day and announce it on the radio and in church. They also take over the follow up once we leave.
Each outreach day costs about the same as a month's rent for a small shop in town. It pays for fuel, medicines, gloves and test kits, a simple lunch for the team, and transport refunds for volunteers who travel from far.
What we do
Village health teams and local leaders choose the site and spread the word.
Registration, consultations, testing, a pharmacy and health talks, from 9am until the last person is seen.
Every referral goes to the nearest government facility with a written note.
Every person seen is entered in the register, and the summary goes to the district.
